Question 1

How do you decide what goes in the range?

Accepted Answer

We start with a longlist of products that look promising on paper. Most drop out: on build quality, value for money, or the absence of a real function that justifies the price. What remains, we test for weeks in daily use. Only then do we decide whether something makes the cut. We review more than we sell. That's deliberate: a range without rejections isn't a curated verdict, it's a catalogue.

Question 2

Do you test every product yourselves?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every product we sell we've had in our hands and used long enough to know whether it's worth the money. We test for daily use, not for unboxing impressions. That sometimes means weeks with the same device before we have a verdict. Products that don't make the cut, we cover anyway: the distinction between what we test and what we sell is deliberate and visible.

Question 3

Do you sell products that didn't pass the test?

Accepted Answer

No. If something doesn't pass, we don't sell it. We do cover those products, because a negative verdict is as useful as a recommendation. The gap between what we test and what we sell is deliberate: if everything we reviewed were also for sale, something would be off.

Question 4

Who is behind Kortlist?

Accepted Answer

Kortlist is a Dutch company, started by someone who bought the wrong product too many times on the basis of incomplete testing and the enthusiasm of a shop assistant. No large team, no investors, no affiliate model. We're small enough to know every product we sell.
